Tablesaw Safety Tips

1) Always be aware of your free (usually left) hand.

2) To avoid injury from kickback, try to stay away from standing directly behind the workpiece when pushing it through the tablesaw blade.

3) Don't wear gloves while using the tablesaw. You need to know exactly where your fingers are, plus you don't want anything getting cought in the blade pulling your hand to the blade with the fabric.

4) Have you read your tablesaw manual? Just because you know how to use a tablesaw doesn't mean that you should skip this.

5) Have an easy cutoff switch somewhere. I find a good place to put one is within reach of your knee. Sometimes you are pushing a cut through and it binds, or for whatever reason you need to shut the saw off without letting go of the piece. Switching the saw off with your foot or knee may just save your fingers.

6) It's a good idea to switch off the breaker power to the tablesaw when you are changing blades.

7) Adjust the blade height so that it is no more than 1/8 inch abovethe stock you are cutting. The less the blade is expose less the injury will be if an accident happens.
