In order for you to be
efficient and productive in your workshop, you must spend some time
on planning. Think about what you do most often, the steps you take
to complete projects etc. Even if you can save only ten or fifteen
minutes a day, this time adds up to almost a full days of work by
the end of a month.
Layout
One of the most important factors of efficiency of your shop is
the layout of your machinery. Chances are you have not bought all
your machine tools all at once. They came into the shop one at a
time and you made room for them as they came in.
Perhaps it's time to think about changing their layout. Try to
situate the tools in some sort of sequence that makes sense to their
use. You may be so used to the way things are that you don't think
about shop layout, but don't be afraid to move things around and
make improvements.
Wheels
If you have limited space, maybe the answer for you is mobility.
Put swivel castor lockable wheels on your workbenches and tool stands.
Hand Tool Storage
Hanging tools is a good way to store them. Once you have determined
where everything goes, trace their profiles onto the wall so that
you can easily put them back into the proper place.
